2016 Barbaresco DOCG Campo Quadro Riserva

Italy
Red
Organic

Region:  Barbaresco, Piemonte

Appellation:  Barbaresco DOCG

Varietal/Blend:  100% Nebbiolo

ABV:  14.5%

Vineyard:  This wine comes from Punset’s vineyards on San Cristoforo hill, among the highest in Barbaresco, including the Basarin and San Cristoforo MeGA sites. Campo Quadro, a parcel just under 1.5 hectares, sits on southeast-facing upper slopes, sheltered by mature woodland. Vineyards have been farmed organically since 1982, biodynamically since 1990, and according to Fukuoka principles since 2007. Yields are very low, rarely exceeding 70 q/ha. Grapes are hand-harvested in October during cool early mornings to preserve freshness.

Cellar: Grapes are destemmed and fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in cement tanks for 47 days with traditional cap management. The wine is gently drained from the skins and aged in barriques and tonneaux for 48 months, followed by over three years in the bottle.
