2024 Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato DOCG Majoli
On the palate, spice and fruit are carried with balance, finishing long and elegant. “Thanks to its juicy berry fruit, spicy flavors and structure, Ruchè is remarkably food-friendly,” adds O’Keefe, making it a perfect match for Piedmontese classics such as agnolotti, fritto misto, red meats, game, and aged or blue cheeses or any structured, spicier dish.
Region: Langhe & Monferrato, Piemonte
Appellation: Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato DOCG
Varietal/Blend: 100% Ruchè
ABV: 15%
Vineyard: The 1.7-hectare vineyard is located in Castagnole Monferrato on south- and west-facing slopes at 230 metres above sea level. Guyot-trained vines are planted in calcareous, clay-rich soils with some sand, with yields managed through cluster thinning and hand-harvesting in September.
Cellar: After destemming and gentle pressing, the wine ferments with a 10-day maceration in stainless steel at controlled temperatures. Following fermentation, it is left to settle for six months until the following spring, then bottled and aged for several additional months before release.
