Château de Chambrun

2019 Lalande-de-Pomerol AOC Le Bourg

Right on the fault line between Pomerol and Lalande-de-Pomerol lies a small, easily overlooked parcel called Le Bourg, but the map only tells half the story. What matters here is what sits beneath the surface. The vineyard rests on that rare blue-tinged clay seam that made nearby Château Pétrus legendary. The clay builds that slow, enveloping depth Merlot lovers chase, while the gravel pulls everything into focus, lifting the aromatics and tightening the frame. It is one of those quiet, privileged sites that rewards anyone paying close attention.

In the cellar, they treat it accordingly. Fermentation happens in wooden vats, with long macerations that build texture without pushing too hard. The barrels are exceptional but used with restraint, framing the wine rather than dressing it up. Production is microscopic. This is the estate’s mic-drop wine: electric, serious, and just a little thrilling.
