Cooper Mountain

Pinot Gris

The 2022 Pinot Gris from Cooper Mountain is, by their own estimation, their favourite vintage to date. Since 1978, Cooper Mountain have been growing Pinot Gris in the Willamette Valley, the first certified organic and then first certified biodynamic producer in Oregon to do so, and we've always loved this gem. It sits in that goldilocks zone of not too sweet and not too dry, achieving Alsatian-esque flavours but with that stately Willamette structure and tea-like minerality we love—the influence of their unique volcanic soils. This delicious wine will happily dance for you now but will also improve in the cellar for the next 5-10 years. A welcome pairing to shellfish, East- and Southeast-Asian cuisines, and, of course, all manner of Pacific salmon preparations.

91WE: "Spring-like aromas of a fresh-cut lawn and day lilies, joined by lime zest and a touch of loam, are quite pleasant. The wine's crisp texture matches its dominant flavors of tonic water on the rocks with a lemon twist. There's some fruit here in the form of a pear galette sprinkled with toasted filberts and nutmeg." — Michael Alberty
