Massimago
2024 Valpolicella DOC Duca Fedele
"Wild raspberry and red currant aromas leap from the glass, dancing with fresh-snipped thyme and garden herbs in a spring breeze. The palate channels pure joy through crunchy red fruit, electric acidity racing across the tongue, while subtle earthy notes ground the finish. This is the new benchmark for Valpolicella, capturing everything great about this region: freshness, soul, and pure deliciousness." — Jeff Porter, Wine Enthusiast
Region: Valpolicella
Appellation: Valpolicella DOC
Varietal/Blend: 55% Corvina veronese, 35% Corvinone, 10% Rondinella
ABV: 12.5%
Vineyard: Vineyards sit on limestone-rich slopes at 100–400 m in the Mezzane Valley. Vines are densely planted at 7,000 per hectare, trained in Guyot and pergola veronese systems, with southwest exposure.
Cellar: Hand-harvested grapes are gently de-stemmed and crushed. The berries undergo a short maceration in stainless steel vats, followed by fermentation in the same vessels. The wine is aged for a few months in stainless steel before resting six months in a bottle. ~18,000 bottles made.
CSPC: 136704
Winemakers Note: It shows a light to medium-deep ruby red colour with slightly lighter rims. The nose is rich, moving from black and white pepper to strawberries and candied, zesty orange. Subtle balsamic notes also come through. The palate is fresh and lightly peppery, offering an easy, generous drinkability.
