Tombolo Manzoni Bianco

È Jamu

A judicious selection of their best fruit, the inaugural vintage of Tombolo was wild-fermented in just one first-fill French oak barrique (with frequent bâtonnage) where it rested 10 months before bottling. This is an ambitious, developed expression of Manzoni Bianco, a crossing of Riesling and Pinot Blanc from the 1930's that has captured the hearts and minds of many young vignerons for its taut structure, elegant panoply of vibrant fruit, and ability to retain acidity in warmer climes. With only 42 bottles (of a total 300) available for Alberta, all our Italophile friends need to jump on this quick!

An intense and bright straw yellow colour happily greets the eye. The nose is broad and refined with hints of exotic fruit and citrus, white flowers and mineral nuances. On the palate, the wood marries extraordinarily well with the wine, adding texture and complexity with hints of butter and hay that mingles well with a pleasant saltiness that embellishes the finish. Lovers of well-madeFrench Chenins and Chardonnays should really enjoy the view from up here!
