2024 Rosso di Montalcino Montosoli DOC

The nose jumps straight into violets and tart little red berries, especially raspberry and red currant, with this lovely flash of blood orange cutting through it all. It keeps the fruit feeling bright and juicy rather than drifting into anything too soft. It’s a pretty combination, almost floral enough to feel perfumed, but never sleepy. On the palate, the wine has real body, though the acidity keeps tugging it back into freshness, and the tannins are smooth enough that nothing gets in the way of the fruit. The violet comes back again on the finish with those tart red berries and this lingering stony, mineral thing underneath. Long, fresh, and much more energetic than the weight of the wine initially suggests
