Luneau Papin
2022 Muscadet Sèvre et Maine Cru AOC Clos de l'Allée Monopole
Bedrock of altered micaschist and gneiss, an historic uninterrupted 2.3ha plot enclosed by paths which were borders of three feudal lordships in the late 18th century. At that time, 75 growers had vines in the clos; today it’s a monopole of the Luneau family. • Vines re-planted in 1974. • Spontaneous fermentation, aged in underground glass-lined vats for 16 months on the lees without racking; bottled Feb 2024. • Serve at 12º with langoustines or Thai chicken sauté.

What the Critics are saying:
The fruit for this cuvée, previously known as Clos des Allées, is sourced from 2.3 hectares of vines planted on sandy micaschist and altered gneiss. It was vinified in subterranean cuves and aged on the lees for one year. There are delicately bitter fruits on the nose, orange skin and peach stone swirled with smoke. This leads to a confident palate, polished, ripe and broad, with rich veins of lemon peel, peach and apple fruits, with good textural substance and confidence, as well as some gentle but evident acidity. This holds together very well, and while less incisive than some other vintages, it has balance and a little panache. The alcohol on the label is 12%. From a 2024 Update. 92/100 (Chris Kissack, Winedoctor, February 2024)
Let’s step up in vinosity. Les Pierres Blanches (gneiss) affirms its tasty shoulders, as does
Clos de l’Allée (micaschistes), with a remarkable mouthwatering dimension. Its umami flavor
outlines with precision the features in the mouth.
Guide Vert RVF 2025 by Alexis Goujard
Born full of duality, between the iodine of a seaweed and more fruity notes of yellow
peaches and mirabelles. Fresh hazelnut is also present. On the palate, there is a nice lengthening
and juiciness full of life. fresh almond in the finish.
