From François’s vineyards in Sarras & Malleval, these vineyards face south-east and with Marsanne vines an average of thirty five years, planted at 6,000 vines per hectare in both the Single Guyot and Cordon de Royat training methods. The decomposed granite soils of Saint-Joseph are juxtapose in expression from the limestone of Saint-Péray or Hermitage, giving a more mineral-driven and tensile expression (as opposed to oily and honey’d), revealing Marsanne’s saline, citrus peel, white florals, and herbaceous nuances, alongside apricot and chamomile. Yield was 45hl/ha in these sites in 2023. Naturally fermented then aged in French oak barrels and foudres for 14 months on the lees. 12,232 bottles made. 13%. Cellaring potential: 10 years.
