2023 Crozes-Hermitage AOC Cour de Récré

Domaine François Villard

From the Mercurol, Cahnos-Curson, and Beaumont-Monteux vineyards, this cuvée’s name translates to Playground. These vines are 30yo on average and grow on pebbles, sand, and clay at a lower density (5,500 vines/ha) in a cordon de royat training, yielding only 40hl/ha. So many little differences from Saint-Joseph across the river. This wine was direct pressed to French oak foudre for a low temperature natural yeast fermentation followed by 10 months of further rest on the fine lees in said foudres but for the 10% Roussanne, which is fermented and aged in smaller oak barrels. 13% ABV. 14,000 bottles made.
