Château Haut-Grelot

Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux AOC Rocket Man Merlot

The Rocket Man Merlot is a cheeky drop with all the karaoke joy an Elton John fan would expect. This trojan horse for a new generation of drinkers eschews the stuffy Château label and sneaks Merlot into a new generation's stemware, intent to wash away the lost-symbolism of Sideways and the whole Merlot-fiasco. It’s a notably ideal wine for the newly resurgent localvore Albertan considering its juicy fruit profile of wild berries like our haskaps and saskatoons with a hint of gamey edge and a rooibos edge. It’s a natural wine with no added sulfites but with enough tannin and antioxidating anthocyanins to glass pour and have open over night without issue. Can be served cold or not, works both ways, but ideally you split the difference and serve this around 12-13º. The palate is soft and generous with just enough tannin to make it make sense at the dinner table.
