Camille Cayran
Cairanne AOC Grande Réserve Blanc
The fruit for the Cairanne AOC Grande Réserve Blanc comes from the vineyards located on the Miocene era hillsides, north of the village, called locally the "Montagne du Ventabren" — the mountain of wind for bran, suggesting the ancients used the winds of this hill to toss grains to separate the chaff. Erosion has blended these limestone pebbles with a rare flint, alternating with marl. The vines are on south-facing slopes that bathe in the provençial sun, yet the winds keep the ripening curve on track to achieve beautiful balance (13% abv in 2023, for instance).
Enjoy now-2028. Serve at 10-12ºC. This wine works well as an aperitif but is especially winning with crab, lobster, scallops, prawns, and the like.
Region: Cairanne, Rhône Valley
Appellation: Cairanne AOC
Varietal/Blend: 50% Grenache Blanc, 20% Clairette, 20% Bourbelenc, 10% Marsanne
ABV: 13.0%
Vineyard & Vine Age: Bull Swamp and Manilla vineyards in Baw Baw Shire. The vines were planted in 1961 and and 1964 respectively.
Cellar: The grapes for this wine are directly pressed and cold stabilized at 4–6ºC before fermenting slightly warmer at 16–18ºC for varietal character. The wine is matured on the lees, enhancing texture while preserving freshness and complexity.
CSPC: 118589
Winemakers Note:
Yellow color with green reflections. Very expressive nose of peach, apricot with white flowers. Rich on the pallet with honey and lemon touches. Beautiful roundness and minerality. Well balanced and long finish. Perfect fit with sea-food, veal with honey sauce, Provencal-style dishes, grilled white meat. Can also be enjoyed as an aperitif.
An elegant Cairanne, well balanced and structured, round and mineral. Excellent with sea food, Provencal-style dishes, grilled white meats. Can also be enjoyed as an aperitif.
