Winemakers Note: There isn't much we love more than a glass of white wine in the sun, where all you are looking for is something bright, textural and refreshing - with or without food. For us it's River Sand. From the remarkable organic Bassham Vineyards in Barmera, the heat of the Riverland brings the fun to this wine - and this rendition is still in fine form.
We've always adored this wine's luscious, waxy texture - although that can be said about all our Fiano's, but River Sand has always been the shining light in that regard. Beautiful wine this year - Lovely frangipani nose with some juicy pineapple, golden kiwi, apple whiffs too. That lovely almond kernel signature is all over this wine again, a kind of apricot, nectarine pip thing, all wrapped in that honeyed, oily texture. Showing some nice acidity to make it all refreshing - you could drink this all day. So pleasant.
The Unico Team's Daily Drinker
What the Critics are saying: The 2023 River Sand Fiano leads with apricots and pineapple on the nose. On the palate, the wine is concentrated and textural, with bucketloads of flavor and impact. This, as with last year, packs a punch, and it's very good. 13% alcohol, sealed under Diam. 91 points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2023 Vintage)
