Château La Bastidette is a compact, seven-parcel study of Merlot in Montagne-Saint-Émilion. Its 5.36 hectares sit in the western part of the commune, where the soils turn dark, dense, and clay-heavy, giving the wine its broad shoulders and measured depth.
La Bastidette has always been part of the Château Moncets wine range, but it is worked as its own site rather than simply another label. Each parcel is farmed according to its particular needs, then vinified separately in temperature-controlled, epoxy-free concrete tanks after gravity-fed reception and detailed sorting. Since 2022, the vineyards have also been moving toward organic farming, with cover crops, regular soil work, and drones used to better understand and balance the land.

leads the wider Domaines de Moncets project with a clear idea in mind: Bordeaux is more interesting when its individual places are allowed to remain distinct. At La Bastidette, that means keeping the focus tightly on Merlot, black clay, and the character of Montagne-Saint-Émilion.
