2012 Barbaresco DOCG Campo Quadro Riserva MAGNUM

"Reaching its peak, this red reveals fading plum, carob, licorice, earth, eucalyptus and spice flavours. Rich and harmonious, with ample acidity and dusty, well-integrated tannins. Drink now through 2032." -92pts, Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator

Region:  Barbaresco, Piemonte

Appellation:  Barbaresco DOCG

Varietal/Blend:  100% Nebbiolo

ABV:  14.5%

Vineyard:  Sourced from Punset’s Campo Quadro parcel on San Cristoforo hill, among the highest vineyards in Barbaresco. The southeast-facing site covers just under 1.5 hectares and is sheltered by mature woodland. The vineyards have been farmed organically since 1982, biodynamically since 1990, and according to Fukuoka principles since 2007. Yields rarely exceed 70 q/ha. Grapes are hand-harvested in October during the cool morning hours.

Cellar: Fermentation occurs spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in cement tanks using traditional cap management and lasts more than 40 days. The wine is drained from the skins without pressing and aged in a combination of barriques and tonneaux. It matures for approximately three and a half years in oak, followed by three years in bottle before release.
