2021 Pinot Nero dell’Oltrepò Pavese Riserva DOC V18

Coming from a cooler, forest-protected site with north-east exposure, V18 is the more delicate side of the Cordero Pinots. Where SG ’67 leans deeper and more savoury, V18 moves with a softer, silkier touch, all red berries, violet, jasmine, spice, and that beautifully airy perfume. The tannins are beautifully woven, the acidity keeps everything humming, and it moves with a kind of effortless poise that feels both deeply Italian and unmistakably Pinot.

Vineyard:  Planted in 1967, the vineyard features a South-West exposure with clay-calcareous soils and limestone rock. Grapes are carefully hand-harvested and placed in boxes around late August to early September following strict manual selection.

Cellar: Grapes are destemmed but kept whole, with cold maceration before fermentation in stainless steel at controlled temperatures and daily pump-overs. After racking and malolactic fermentation, the wine ages ten months in barriques, ten in large barrels, and ten in bottle.
