Cordero San Giorgio
2021 Pinot Nero dell’Oltrepò Pavese Riserva DOC V18
“Meaty and juicy, this red has aromas of grilled herbs, orange rind, earth and spices. It’s medium-bodied with nicely integrated tannins and excellent flavor concentration. Drink now or hold”. -92 pts, Claire Nesbitt, James Suckling (Feb 2026)
Region: Oltrepò Pavese, Lombardia
Appellation: Pinot Nero dell’Oltrepò Pavese Riserva DOC
Varietal/Blend:
ABV: 14.0%
Vineyard: Fruit comes from a vineyard planted in 1996, with east to northeast exposure and sandy-loam soils in Oltrepò Pavese. The grapes are hand-harvested in late August or early September.
Cellar: Grapes are destemmed without pressing to preserve the whole berries, followed by a cold pre-fermentation maceration. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel with one short pump-over each day. After racking, the wine completes MLC in barriques, then ages for approximately nine months in French oak barriques of various origins, nine months in large barrels, and at least eighteen months in bottle before release.
