Cordero Mario

2023 Barbera d'Alba DOC Solìto

The Cordero family has always had a soft spot for Barbera. Lorenzo’s grandfather even pulled out a parcel of Barolo to plant it, which at the time was a pretty controversial move. That tells you everything about how seriously they take this grape. The style is what Barbera should be: direct, bright, high in acidity, and made for drinking rather than overthinking. Ripe black cherry, cranberry, raspberry, juicy plum, and forest strawberry come through with fresh pepper and violet, while the oak sits exactly where it should. The finish is all crunchy berries, exactly the kind of Barbera you want to keep pouring.
