Bertinga

2022 Chianti Classico DOCG La Porta di Vertine

La Porta di Vertine is the wine that first put Bertinga on the map, riding the heritage of a DOCG that helped define the history of Italian wine. The vineyard takes its name from the medieval hamlet of Vertine, long before Bertinga owned the site. That same tiny village appears on the label, hand-sketched by a local artist who spent years eating, drinking, and painting his way through the area. Fresh, dynamic, and driven by mouthwatering acidity, it’s a beautifully balanced single-variety, single-vineyard expression. The nose is packed with wild herbs, red berries, licorice, and warm spice, all carried by a freshness that makes the wine feel lively and dangerously drinkable. Small production and serious pedigree put it comfortably alongside some of the benchmark wines of its category, though thankfully it still drinks with far less ego.
