Bertinga

2022 Chianti Classico DOCG La Porta di Vertine

La Porta di Vertine immediately put Bertinga on the map, riding the wave of the DOCG appellation that has shaped Italian wine history. Fresh, dynamic, with mouthwatering acidity and perfect balance, it is a single grape from a single vineyard, an authentic Cru. The small production keeps it priced right alongside the best benchmarks of its category. The vineyard’s name existed long before Bertinga acquired the land, taken from the medieval hamlet of Vertine whose fortified walls watch over the vines. That little hamlet even appears on the label, lovingly sketched by a local artist who spent years savoring the local food, wine, and scenery while painting. Herbs, licorice, and spice jump from the glass, showing off the vineyard’s character and the careful hands that tend it.
