Carignano di Ampeleia

Ampeleia

“Campo al Finocchio” (fennel field) is a small vineyard, protected by Mediterranean scrub. It's impossible to find if you don’t know it is there, nestled between in a holm oak forest with a view all the way to the Tyrrhenian coast. Ampeleia have discovered this forgotten plot's huge potential. The soil, characterized by grey clays and schist, gives this Carignano (the Italian phenotype of Carignan / Cariñena) a bold, expressive character. This purple-red wine has a unique crispness that is so old-vine carignan, plush with black fruit, thyme, fennel, and a slight note of leather, sustained by a distinct and textured acidity. Marco says this "is a wine that must be listened to. Share it with those who want to hear, who will be enchanted by it."
