Cabernet Franc di Ampeleia

Ampeleia

It is commonly thought that clay soil produces more structured wines, but this is not the case in Roccatederighi where Ampeleia's “dell’Asina” vineyard (the “Donkey vineyard”) unique soil rich in clay, schist, and palombino limestone rocks creates a Cab Franc that is the expression of pure fruit, with a sincere and vibrant identity. This is a very different breed of 'Super-Tuscan', fresh in fruit with a hint of menthol harmonizing with tart cherry and red currant and bell pepper verve. The lingering minerality invites sip after sip. A terroir Cabernet Franc beautifully farmed, revealing the unique expression offered by Tuscany's upper Maremma.
