Alberto Voerzio

Langhe Nebbiolo DOC

Alberto's Langhe Nebbiolo is light on its feet with great lift, giddy with cherry and rose blossom aromatics. So pure and bright, a glimpse of spring. The tannins are well-moderated and the fruit component is allowed out to play. It seems lazy to say “classic” Langhe Nebbiolo but this truly fits the build. The palate is lovely: pure cherry and raspberry notes with a super long finish. With time the aroma picks up a touch of dried leaf and herbal complexity. Complex but easy to understand. Really long finish. There's insane value here for Nebbiolo lovers. Twelve months in older French oak barriques then racked to stainless steel to mellow another eight months, Alberto manages to keep the wine youthful and energetic without compromising on interest. (This wine is unfined & unfiltered and may therefore throw a natural deposit with age.)

Region:  La Morra, Barolo, Piedmont

Appellation:  Langhe Nebbiolo DOC

Varietal/Blend:  100% Nebbiolo

ABV:  14.0%

Vineyard:  This Langhe Nebbiolo comes from biodynamic estate vines in La Morra’s SE-facing Tortonian soils at 300–450m. Alberto hand-farms with natural manure, green harvests, and low yields, harvesting manually in late September for optimal ripeness.

Cellar: Hand-sorted Nebbiolo ferments spontaneously with indigenous yeast in temperature-controlled stainless steel. The wine ages 12 months in used French oak barriques, then eight months in stainless. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, it may naturally throw a deposit over time.
