Jean Pabiot & Fils

2023 Sancerre AOC La Merisière Pinot Noir Rouge

Red Sancerre is already a bit of a fun left turn, and this one makes a very convincing case for seeking it out more often. The nose is basically a bowl of freshly crushed strawberries, with a little raspberry and red cherry tucked in behind, plus the faintest peppery lift. The palate is where it really settles in: juicy red berries, soft tannins, silky texture, and just enough acidity. Very drinkable, very easy to like, and dangerously good at making one glass turn into three. This is the kind of Pinot that will absolutely reward you if you want to sit there and pick it apart, but frankly, I think it’s happier when you don’t. Slight chill, something simple on the table, bottle mysteriously empty twenty minutes later.
