Vin de la Solitude

Domaine de la Solitude

This wine is a tribute to Florent's ancestor Paul Martin, one of the first French Vignerons to sell his wine in glass bottles! in the 18th century his wines appeared under this label, simply stating “Vin de la Solitude.” Likewise, the wine is made in the 18th century style — a huge blend of varieties with a low and slow co-ferment and maceration. According to Florent's research, the blends then were quite different. Grenache did not dominate then as it does today. And of course whole cluster was the norm. Drink now until 2030. Serving temperature: 16C° to 18C°.

"Beautifully detailed nose with peppery freshness. Intense, with fine tannins, gently saline and not overly marked by wood this year - lovely drinkability. This is excellent and based on a recipe belonging to an ancestor of the Lançon family. It's unusual in its proportion of Counoise; with it are co-fermented Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Roussanne, Clairette Rose and Grenache Blanc. Aged in three-year-old barriques. No filtration or fining." - 95 DE
