Domaine Belargus
2020 Savennières AOC Gaudrets (Sec)
Aromas of white flowers and white fruits open onto an enveloping roundness in the mouth from a year spent on the lees, carried by a fine acidity and a gentle, signature salinity. A “captivating nose with notes of pear, flowers and citrus.” Drink now or lay down for up to a decade. Best served at 10-12C.
Region: Savennières, Loire Valley
Appellation: Savennières AOC
Varietal/Blend: 100% Chenin Blanc
ABV: 13%
Vineyard & Vine Age: Hand harvested from four parcels in Savennières — Clos des Gaudrets, Les Veaux, La Fesanderie, and Les Suisses. Farmed biodynamically (in conversion), the southeast-facing vineyards are planted on loamy sandy soils over schist, a classic Savennières terroir. The vines were planted in 1998 and harvested into small 25 kg crates.
Cellar: Fermented with indigenous yeasts and taken through complete MLC. The wine matures for 21 months on total lees in a traditional wooden tronçonique tank. Unfined and lightly filtered with kieselguhr (diatomite) prior to bottling.
CSPC: 859230
