Château Potensac
2020 Médoc AOC, Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel ’32
"Top Value. This kicks off at a high intensity and manages to deliver both
concentration and freshness. Juicy and easy to approach and will easily last 10 years. Has charm and appeal, and a sappy delivery of cassis and bilberry fruits."92 pts, Jane Anson, Decanter
Region: Médoc, Bordeaux
Appellation: Médoc AOC
Varietal/Blend: 44% Merlot, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Cabernet
Franc, 1% Petit-Verdot
ABV: 13.5
Vineyard & Vine Age: Château Potensac’s 60-hectare estate sits on a high point near the river in North Médoc, west of Ordonnac village. The vineyards are planted on hilly mounds with limestone subsoil, covered by clay and gravel outcrops with a high proportion of gravel (“graves”), soils very similar to those of Saint-Estèphe. Some of the Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc vines are over 75–80 years old.
Cellar: Grapes were hand-harvested, then meticulously sorted. Fermentation occurred with native yeasts, followed by maturation in barrels with 20% new oak.
