Château Haut-Bages

2015 Pauillac AOC, 5ème Grand Cru Classé en 1855

Château Haut-Bages Libéral is a true "Pauillac in lace," combining energy and refinement. The limestone in the vineyard gives the wine a bright freshness and minerality, setting it apart within Pauillac. On the nose, small black berries are joined by hints of spice and tobacco. The palate is structured with silky tannins, balanced acidity, and a long, precise finish. Classic Pauillac with personality.

Region:  Pauillac, Bordeaux

Appellation:  Pauillac AOC

Varietal/Blend:  65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot

ABV:  13.5

Vineyard & Vine Age: The estate’s 35-year-old vines are planted at 10,000/ha across 81 ha, with half on the historic Bages plateau (deep gravel) and half on clay-limestone hillocks. Soils are a mix of deep gravels, clay, and limestone, well-drained, and farmed using self-sustaining techniques. Manual harvest is done parcel by parcel, with careful selection at the vineyard.

Cellar: Grapes are vinified lot by lot in concrete and stainless steel vats, with strict parcel selection. Fermentation and maceration are handled per parcel to preserve each plot’s character. The wine is aged 16 months in French oak barrels, 40% new, before blending and bottling.
