Les Meuniers De Clémence Extra Brut

Lelarge-Pugeot

This beautifully balanced wine is among the most unique Champagnes I've had the pleasure of tasting. This is 100% Meunier grown very seriously, without any less attention than the family's Pinot Noir or Chardonnay. This wine draws a crowd, demonstrating why Meunier deserves equal billing. On the nose, a surprising layer of white ground pepper with a hint of chamomile dances atop a basket of juicy peach and fresh cut orange notes. On the palate, a tension between dry, structured spicy angularity and an intense fruitiness, even after all these years rest. There are notes of ripe apricot, umeboshi, burnt sugar, and almond paste. A crisp minerality perched tall inside a creamy mousse. Outstanding.
