Reflexion Grüner Veltliner

Johannes Zillinger

Kellerberg is the oldest Grüner vineyard and an historic landmark in the Zillinger's area, last planted by his grandfather in 1974, organic since 1984, and bursting with life. A family heirloom. A yearlong cover crop of herbs and flowers seems to sneak into the glass alongside a host of yellow fruit, white pepper, and talcy minerality. Creatively, 10% of the grapes are fermented on their skins in qvevri while the remainder is fermented 50/50 in stainless steel and acacia barrels. The wines are then blended to mature on their lees for 7-8 months with bâtonnage.
