Blaufränkisch Heide

Birgit Braunstein

This stainless fermented, one-year oak aged Blaufränkisch from Birgit's treasured Heide vineyard has a peppery, savoury, blackberry dominant palate with supple tannins and medium body. Birgit's signature style is on full display: classic, lifted, and mineral focused. 18 days maceration gives it a great colour but also adds a good amount of freshness with the tannins. This blau is as beautiful as it is textbook, a center-cut example of what this variety is all about: great balance, structure, and nuance yet light enough to accompany a wider spectrum of proteins and dishes than, say, Syrah. Never fails to please.
