Alexander Zahel
2024 Kamptal DAC Langenlois Riesling
Bone dry, with lemon oil and green apple skin up front, then this cooler, stony thing starts to come through, almost like wet rock after rain. There is a faint green note in there too, but nothing feels austere or overly sharp. The acidity keeps the wine moving, but there is enough fruit and texture that it never feels thin. It has that lovely Kamptal thing where everything feels precise without becoming severe. The finish is long, and seriously mouth-watering. Trout, salty cheese, or a plate of whatever snacks happen to be around would all make a lot of sense here.
